Third Annual ICORE Australian Regional Regional Revolver Championship

October 18-19, 2003

 

We had 82 competitors starting on a bright sunny Saturday and completed the match in the pouring rain on Sunday. Everyone enjoyed themselves and had a great time, even though the weather changed dramatically overnight.

We started the weekend off on Thursday night with a dinner at a local restaurant. This was a night of relaxation before the big match. The range officers started the weekend off by shooting their stages on Friday, whilst competitors signed on for the weekend. This was followed by a BBQ tea which was well attended.

On Saturday everyone was up bright and early to commence a great day of shooting and competitors fired their first shot at 08.30 a.m. After a great day of competition all competitors and staff attended a wonderful dinner where many give-aways were handed out to all competitors and their guests. This was a night to unwind and socialise.

Sunday the weather had changed to very cold, wet conditions which improved as the day wore on. Unfortunately we had to cancel Stage 9 because of the inclement conditions. The change of weather really tested all the competitors. By 2.30 everyone was anxious for the results and at last we were ready for the presentations of trophies and prizes.

I would like to thank especially Smith & Wesson our major sponsor for all the support and sponsorship they have given us for this and previous years Championships, TK Custom, TXG Photo's, John Milic, Competition Shooting Supplies, Rehlicki Custom, Midland Irrigation, Phlatnum Projectiles, Bendigo Voice & Data, Khong Dynasty, Bendigo One Stop and Ron Poyser Holden who were our key sponsors. We had many more sponsors who will be thanked with plaques and certificates.

Overall Limited was won by Alan Samuel from the USA and Overall Open was won by Mark Itzstein from South Queensland Wheelgunners.

The lucky winners of the Smith & Wesson 686+ handguns were Ian Bond from Townsville Rednecks, John Willison from the Northern Territory and John Milic from Bendigo Wheelburners. These members are thoroughly thrilled with their win. Many thanks must be extended to Smith & Wesson who generously supplied these handguns to the Australia Region for our 3rd ICORE Australian Regional Revolver championship.

Many members and competitors are now looking to our 4th Australian Regional Championship which will be held on 15, 16 & 17th October, 2004.
