Fifth Annual ICORE Rocky Mountain Regional Revolver Championship Results

May 3-4, 2003

 

Bud Bond and the gang at the WCFW High Plains Shooting Range in Galeton, CO put on a fine Mid-State/Rocky Mountain Regional Revolver Championship. 40 enthusiastic shooters enjoyed 8 challenging stages. A generous prize table was provided by the many match sponsors listed below. The match was marked by superb weather, a fine lunch and a field that include shooters from as far away as Houston, TX and Lakewood, CA. Match Statistician John Burkholder had the results posted almost immediately and trophies were awarded on Saturday afternoon. A walk of the prize table completed an excellent day.

The shootoff on Sunday morning paired up contestants based on overall match finish. When all the smoke cleared and the last Texas Star was stripped of its plates, Doug Reed and Rick Bowen prevailed over Jim Maucher and Troy Mattheyer to take the trophy and a Franklin each. The runners up each got a Grant. Each team had beaten the other during the elimination ladder, thus necessitating a final shootoff to determine the overall winner.

ICORE founders Sharon and Michael Higashi and sons Aaron and Jacob were in attendance for their first appearance at an ICORE event in several years. The Higashis now live in Colorado Springs where Mike is studying for a new career in the medical field and Sharon keeps the family together in addition to her full time career as a loan officer. Squad 4 was priveleged to have Mike shooting and Sharon keeping scores.
